Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı has confirmed the newly-promoted Premier League club are interested in signing Werder Bremen forward Justin Njinmah.

Speaking to Hull Live, Ilıcalı admitted the 25-year-old features on their summer shortlist as the Tigers seek attacking reinforcements ahead of their return to the top flight. “Yes,” he said when asked directly about interest in the player. “He’s also a winger and a striker. He is one of the players on our list, but of course we have many options.”

Versatile Bundesliga Attacker

Njinmah has spent the last three seasons with Werder Bremen following his arrival in 2022. The German-born forward has made 88 appearances for the Bundesliga club, contributing 14 goals and six assists during his time at the Weser-Stadion.

His ability to operate across the front line appears to appeal to Hull as they look to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League. Ilıcalı highlighted this flexibility when discussing the attacker, noting his capacity to play both as a winger and through the middle.

Shortlist Competition

Despite the public confirmation of interest, securing Njinmah’s signature remains uncertain. Ilıcalı revealed the club are currently evaluating approximately 20 potential targets, indicating they have not yet made a final decision on their attacking priorities.

The Tigers’ owner also disclosed that one major club has invited Hull to discuss potential player acquisitions, suggesting they face competition from established Premier League sides with greater financial resources.

Transfer Status

No formal bid for Njinmah has been confirmed, and Werder Bremen have not commented on the speculation. The forward remains under contract with the Bundesliga outfit, leaving any potential transfer dependent on negotiations between the clubs.

Ilıcalı’s comments mark the first public confirmation of Hull’s interest, though the deal remains at an early stage with multiple alternatives under consideration as Hull prepare for the challenges of top-flight football.
