TSG Hoffenheim have confirmed that striker Erencan Yardimci will spend the upcoming season on loan at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The Bundesliga club announced the move, revealing that the agreement includes an option for the second-division side to sign the forward permanently next summer.

The temporary switch represents another step in Yardimci’s development since joining Hoffenheim from Turkish Süper Lig outfit Eyüpspor in the summer of 2024. The attacker has yet to establish himself in the senior squad at the PreZero Arena, instead gaining experience through loan spells in Germany’s second tier.

Previous loan spell

Last season, Yardimci represented fellow 2. Bundesliga club Eintracht Braunschweig, where he found the net four times. His performances in Lower Saxony demonstrated his ability to contribute at that level, prompting Kaiserslautern to move for the striker as they prepare for the new campaign.

TSG sporting director Paul Pajduch highlighted the player’s growth during his previous loan. “Erencan showed during his year in Braunschweig how important he can be for a team,” Pajduch said. “His time at Eintracht Braunschweig furthered his development, so that he now finds the right and ambitious environment in Kaiserslautern.”

Record-breaking potential

The structure of the deal suggests Kaiserslautern are planning for the long term. Should they choose to activate the purchase clause at the end of the season, the fee involved could reportedly set a new transfer record for the Rhineland Palatinate side. This would mark a significant financial commitment for the second-division club.

For Yardimci, the move offers a fresh opportunity to establish himself as a regular starter and improve upon his goal tally from last term. Kaiserslautern will be hoping the striker can provide the firepower needed to mount a challenge in the 2. Bundesliga.
